How we build our boats

"This is where the art comes in. There is no architecture more sensitive than that of a moving structure and its motor" Paul Valery

U119 open boat design

Each of our creations takes shape in a dream.
The dream of a child, a sailor or captain.
A dream about the sea and boats that are forever more beautiful, more powerful and more comfortable to live in.
The preparation takes a long time. Years to think, sketch, design, discuss and combine our energies to properly initiate the project.

It's only then that the real design work begins. Naval architecture calls for a complex and iterative approach, known as a spiral cycle. Each part of the project: propulsion, sizing, underwater hull, performance and safety, is progressively adjusted to produce a coherent result and a well balanced boat.

computer aided design

With our extensive experience in composite materials, and armed with the best marine modelling software, we sculpt shapes, simulate the flow of water around the underwater hull, and evaluate the ergonomics of the interior spaces to draw up the construction plans.

We have to revisit the work several times during the process, in order to create a boat consistent with our expectations and our dreams.

Next comes the construction. Our expert carbon and epoxy craftsmen drape the fabric layers in moulds machined to a tenth of a millimetre by digital control.

It's a thrilling moment when we have to forget our impatience to launch the boat into the water. Then we choose the equipment, rigging and decorative materials to furnish the boat. Nothing is too beautiful for this newborn.
When the boat can finally sail, we are full of emotion to see our years of effort and patience finally take shape.

But what moves us even more is the smile and joy of our customers after a voyage on board a UFO boat.
